Despite of being outplayed by former Super Falcons’ goalkeeper, Ann Chiejine’s COD United Ladies, coach of defending Champions Rivers Angels, Edwin Okon has expressed satisfaction at his side extending their unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt.

It was difficult for Angels goalkeeper Bidemi Aluko to blink as the youthful visitors from Lagos kept her on her toes with Orji Chiwendu posing the most threats.

However, a 6th minute angled free kick goal from Mabel Effiom and a 65th minute strike from second-half substitute Cynthia Aku ensured the Angels’ unimpressive performance did not rub off on the outcome of the game.

“As long as I know, I needed the three points and I have gotten the three points, so I think am impressed,” Former Super Falcons coach, Okon told the media after the game.

Okon added that their under par display could have been as a result of having many of his key players in national camps – seventeen players according to him.

He is hoping the return of his players from the U20 camp will help fortify his team ahead of their next match which comes up on Wednesday against Capital City Dove in Abuja.
