Rivers Angels coach, Edwin Okon says he want his team to maintain their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Women Premier League till the end of the season.
The defending Champions are yet to suffer defeat after six matches played and had not conceded any goal until their trip to Abuja on Wednesday where Capital City Doves hit them with two.
With a brace from Amarachi Ojinma, the Port Harcourt-based side held the hosts to a 2-2 draw. Doves’ Joy Ajah had completed her own brace in the first half to give the home team a 2-1 lead before half time.
“We still thank God for the draw,” Okon said after the game. “We’re coming back home (Port Harcourt) to play Pelican, so we’re coming to work hard towards our match with Pelican.
“Rivers Angels are a big team and we wouldn’t mind those players that are in camp, we’re using the ones that are in the house, if those players in camp return home, I think we want to see how we will maintain that lead till the end of the season, so I want to see our unbeaten run till the end of the season,” he concluded.
For Coach of Capital City Doves, Ngozi Ezeh, the 2-2 draw against the best team in the league means her girls have improved compared to the last time both sides met.
“I went to Taraba on Saturday, I drew. Here, I drew too, so my girls they’re improving.” stated Ngozi.
Rivers Angels play Pelican Stars in Port Harcourt on the 1st of August.
