Head Coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Chris Danjuma has picked 18 players for the crucial match against Equatorial Guinea’s senior women national team in Bata on Sunday.
Sunday’s third round, second leg encounter will determine the progress of the African Champions in the 2016 Olympic qualifier after they played out a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea in Abuja two weeks ago.
The players traveled out of Abuja on Thursday morning alongside other officials. They are expected in Malabo at about 3am on Friday aboard CEIBA airline before proceeding to Bata by 7am.
An official training session has been scheduled for Saturday at the Stadium Nkoatoma de Bata on Saturday ahead of the clash of rivalry.
The Super Falcons are without some of their big names; with Asisat Oshoala out injured, while Francesca Ordega and Onome Ebi are tied to club engagements.
Halimatu Ayinde, Nigeria’s goalscorer in the first leg will also not be available, alongside defender, Josephine Chukwunonye.
The new face in the attack of the Super Falcons is Falconets’ Chinaza Uchendu, who contributed immensely in their 14 – 1 aggregate victory over the Liberia U20s last weekend.
FIFA has appointed Marximina Luzia Bernardo from Angola as referee for the Equatorial Guinea/ Nigeria match in Bata, with fellow Angolans Luisa Massanga Luhaco, Andalia Bimbi Francisco Jeremias and Tania Marisa Duarte as first assistant, second assistant and fourth official respectively.
Agathe Athacou of Cote d’Ivoire is the referee assessor and Nomsa Mahlangu from South Africa as commissioner.
