Ghana FA to boost women football

GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has disclosed that the FA will establish women’s soccer from early age with the theme ‘LIVE YOUR GOALS CAMPAIGN’ for girls in Ghana’s schools and communities as parts of  his ongoing efforts to expand the interest in women’s football in the country.

Nyantakyi made this known to the public at the special congress of the Ghana Football Association where he was re-elected president for another four years in Tamale last Tuesday.

In his Speech Mr. Nyantakyi said, “As part of our ongoing efforts to expand the interest in and participation rate in women’s football as well as to develop the footballing skills of girls from a younger age, we will establish the ‘LIVE YOUR GOALS CAMPAIGN’ for girls in school and the communities.”

He added that the GFA will make good use of the expertise of the massive and dominant women football countries on the implementation for a long term plan which will be expected to enhance the development of women’s football in Ghana, as well as working hard to improve standards.

Also, his outfit would start the process of getting the Ghanaman soccer of excellence ready to ensure that the national U-17 players are perfected at the academy at Prampram from an early age as he wants to boost women’s football from the national team level to club team level.

Nyantakyi was re-elected unopposed after the other competitors Ofeibia Ramatu and George Ankomah, failed to submit their nominations before the required deadline.
