The Nigeria Women Premier League Super Six tournament will take place in Abia State from October 30 to November 5, LadiesMarch can confirm.
It is a tournament to decide the overall champion of the abridged league which started with 16 teams sometime in May.
Secretary of the Nigeria Women Football League, Emmanuel Adesanya told Ladies March that the league body is yet to decide on which town to use, but the Abia State Government has agreed to host the tournament.
“Whenever we have a tournament, we normally throw it open to interested states that will be willing to host and our target has been to carry the gospel of women football round the country,” Adesanya stated.
“We’ve gone to one or two places where they were unable to host us, like Rivers State said they were really busy with other engagements; Nasarawa State too couldn’t come to our aid.
“But as we continued to go around, Abia State accepted to host us.”
According to him, the NWFL officials would meet with the permanent Secretary of Sports Ministry and by Monday, it would be known if Umuahia town or Aba town would be used for the final phase of this season’s Nigeria Women Premier League.
Reigning league champions Rivers Angels, 2014 Federation Cup runners-up Sunshine Queens, 2012/13 league winners Nasarawa Amazons, 2011/12 league champions Delta Queens, Bayelsa Queens and Confluence Queens will battle for the coveted trophy.
