Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt qualified for the final of the NWPL Super Six in Umuahia, with a victory over Sunshine Queens of Akure on Tuesday.
The victory saw Rivers Angels gathering a maximum six points in two
games after they defeated Nasaarawa Amazons in their first game.
The only goal of the match came in the 39th minute of the game, after Super Falcons Goalkeeper Tochuckwu Oluehi was caught helpless, as she couldn’t clear her lines and left a very free Loveth Ayila to do the damage.
After the game, Rivers Angels Coach Edwin Okon praised his girls and tasked them not to get carried away with their two victories in two matches, but told them to look forward to lifting the cup with whomever (now Bayelsa Queens)
they meet in the final on today as they are focused on retaining the title they won last year.
“We know how important it is for us to win the cup and we are not
going to stop until we win the final match on Thursday (today). I told the
girls from the beginning that we are in for a great battle here in Umuahia and am happy they are responding well” he told reporters.
However, Sunshine Queens Coach Kayode Olujohungbe said though he was
sad his team lost their first game, but he won’t put any blame on his
players, but rather he would take the blame on himself.

Meanwhile Bayelsa Queens trashed Confluence Queens 4-1 later in the
day to go top of group B with 4 points
Today is dubbed ‘’Finals Day’’ as the NWPL Super Six finale sees Rivers Angels battle Bayelsa Queens for Premier league champions title while Abia Angels take on Tokas Queens for pro-league championship.
