Nigeria Women’s Football League [NWFL] side Taraba Queens have been paid two out of the 11 months salary owed to them by the state government.
“The players have been paid their salary has been sent into their bank accounts,” club media officer Abidoye Babatunde confirmed.
The State Government have also promised to pay the second installments early next year.
It comes as no surprise as the Taraba State Government owed the players of both the men (Taraba FC) and women’s team Taraba FC wages and bonuses spanning 11 months and risked fielding a football team if the debts hadn’t been offset per the directive of the League Management Company(LMC), Nigeria’s premier football league body.
Taraba Queens of Jalingo will start preparation for the 2015/16 Nigeria Women Premier League on 15th January, 2016.
