The U-17 women national team of Namibia are positive ahead of this weekend’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Abuja.

The Baby Gladiators defeated Bostwana 3-2 on aggregate in the preliminary round of qualifiers played in December 2015  en route the next stage.

Namibia will come up against Nigeria’s Flamingos at the Abuja National Stadium on January 9, with the return leg scheduled for Windhoek on January 10, 2016.

Nonetheless,  Head coach of the Namibian National team Mervin Mbakera, has praised his players’ spirit in camp saying that they are preparing for a very physical contest against Nigeria.

“Most of the players were busy with school and examinations, so we could not include them. We also had two injuries, but the doctors did a good job, so we do not have any major injuries,” said Mbakera.

He noted that few changes have been made into the team that played against Bostwana, which means that they now have more depths and options to choose from when injuries arises.
