Head coach of Namibia U-17 women’s national team Mervin Mbakera has accused Nigeria of fielding overage players, when his side took on the F lamingos in a world cup qualifier.
The Flamingos defeated Namibia’s Baby Gladiators 4-0 in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the African qualifiers for the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup at the Abuja National Stadium on Saturday.
“The game between U-23 players against U-17 players,” Mbakera told Brila FM after his team defeat to Flamingos.
“This is not fair and this is the reason why most countries don’t want to play in the U-17.”
He added: “Nigeria’s first goal was brilliant, but their three other goals were as a result of our players errors.”
Namibia will hope to overturn the heavy deficit when they play host to Nigeria in the return leg in Windhoek on January 22, 2016.
