The Senior Women’s National team of Botswana are in camp in preparation for next month’s CAF African Women Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mauritius.
The first leg qualifier comes up on March 5 at the Lobatse Sports complex, with the return leg scheduled for March 18 in Mauritius.
Head coach Gaolethoo Nkutlwisang said that she has called up a number of players, capable of causing an upset against their opponents.
Although she admits that Mauritius are a team that will struggle against her players as a result of not playing a lot of competition, she’s happy with the level of preparation with her team.
The Zebras have been camping for about three weeks with players from the senior team mixed up with players from the U-20 squad, with coach Gaolethoo happy with the level of competition among the players.
Furthermore, she stated that all the players are ready for the encounter:
“Since we reported for camp the girls are responding very well, and there is a lot of spark. They are gelling well as a team.”
The coach also said that the team are committed to progressing in the qualifiers where they will meet South Africa in the final round, should they eliminate Mauritius.
Coach Gaolethoo Nkutlwisang added that everyone are currently working round the clock to ensure that Botswana produce positive results on match day.
