The 2016 calendar of the Nigerian Women Football League(NWFL) teams has been very busy with lots of pre-season friendlies on display. One of the busiest team is Bayelsa Queens FC of Yenagoa.
Yesterday, a friendly match took place at Otueke field in Yenagoa where Bayelsa Queens hosted top NWFL side, Delta Queens of Oleh.
The match which showcased a fierce rivalry between these two was mainly played in the midfield.
LadiesMarch was live at the match venue and witnessed a faulty back pass from Bayelsa Queens player defender, Mercy Adams to her goalkeeper, Rita which prompted the goalie to rush out to touch the ball outside the 18 yard box. The resulting free kick was sublimely curled into the right top corner of the post by ex-Nasarawa Amazons forward and Delta Queen new recruit player, Emuejo Oghiangberha in the 29th minute of the game.
The second half saw a much improved play from the host team albeit with lots of missed chances. Delta Queens captain, Joy Jegede marshaled her team annihilate the offensive attack from Bayelsa Queens team.
A great opportunity at goal in the 56th minute was wasted when Bayelsa Queens player, Osas Igbinovia missed a one on one chance against Delta Queens goalie, Favour.
In the 82nd minute, Bayelsa Queens forward, Blessing Dabrinze had a miss as her half-volley shot hitt the cross bar beating Delta Queens goalie Rita squarely.
The game ended after 3 minutes of added time.

Bayelsa Queens coach, Rollandson Odeh said that his team had a good game but were daunted by that goal from the free kick.
Delta Queens coach, Daniel Evumenado expressed joy of his team’s win. He said “Bayelsa Queens is a top team everyone wants to get a piece of”. He also reiterated that he is delighted to have a great player like Emuejo who was voted Most Valuable Player in the 2015 NWFL Super Six in Umuahia due to her heroics displays.
