Nigerian football star Asisat Oshoala has concluded plans to sponsor a pre-season women’s football tournament in Lagos State as her own effort to get young girls off the streets.
The competition which will hold from tomorrow February 23 to February 27, will see teams like FC Robo, COD Ladies, Kadesh Queens, FC Phoenix, Tokas Queens and Royaltoms Queens jostle for the cash prizes and trophies at the Bishop Aggrey field, Mushin.
“It’s all about giving back to the society and the community, where I started from. We need to develop the game of football from the grassroots, that’s why I am organizing the Asisat Oshoala football tournament for young ladies” said the Super Falcons player.
“We need to get the kids off the streets and prostitution. We will have time to talk and encourage ourselves.”
