Reigning NWFL Champions Rivers Angels were on Thursday February 18 held to a 0-0 draw by newly promoted Abia Angels FC of Aba in a pre-season friendly decided at Asa High School field, Aba.

The visitors were 3-0 winners over the Aba-based side last week Tuesday when both teams met at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt with a brace from Amarachi Ojinma and a solitary goal from Glory Iroka but were stiffled in the return leg.

The match lived up to expectation as the Coach Ann Cheinjine led Abia Angels FC proved their mettle with very impressive offensive display for most of the first half.

The second half was more lively as both teams keenly contested for possession of the ball in the midfield. But the climax of the match was on the 69th minute when the individual brilliance of Rivers Angels player, Chinwendu Orji saw her score a goal that was disallowed by the center referee.

After 90 minutes, plus 3 minutes added time, the match ended with the host team the happier of the two sides.
