South African women’s national team and coach Vera Pauw concluded their successful tour with a 2-2 draw against Cameroon at the Omnisport Stadium in Limbe.
Pauw rewarded the young player Linda Motlhalo (17) with a start after coming on as substitute and scoring a goal from the last friendly match against the home team.
Motlhalo scored the second goal in the second half to end the game and has now scored two goals in two matches.
“We have the best footballers who stood firm against a strong team who have size advantage. Cameroon didn’t give us any chances but we still prevailed,” said Coach Pauw.
“These games are important for us to create our value and we need to play more of them.” Pauw concluded.
Banyana Banyana forward Chantelle Esau said after scoring the 1-1 equalizer of the match
“The team played very sophisticated football and were intuitive to the Lionesses aggressive style.”
