Goals from Yetunde Adeboyejo and Maclean saw the Queens do a repeat of the 1-0 victory over the league champions a few weeks ago as Amarachi Ojinma’s solitary goal did nothing to stop the sting.
Rivers Angels star, Ojinma started the first half with her pacy runs and quick feet as she troubled the Bayelsa Queens team.
A corner kick was taken by Rivers Angels only for the ball to be partly cleared out of the 18 yard box by the Bayelsa Queens defenders but the ball fell perfectly for Rivers Angels player, Amarachi Ojinma who fired the ball into the back of the net for the opening goal at the 10th minute of the game.
Just five minutes after the opener, Bayelsa Queens player Adeboyejo pulled a goal back for the host as she scored with a powerful header from a cross from team-mate, Blessing Odohu.
Bayelsa Queens player, Maclean beat her marker from the right flank of play to shoot past Rivers Angels goalie, Tochukwu Oluehi to slot in the second goal for the host at the 20th minute mark.
A miscalculated run by Rivers Angels goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi out of the 18 yard box in an attempt to catch an oncoming ball led to a penalty for the host team with 30 minutes gone into the first half. Bayelsa Queens player,
Patience took the penalty only to have her ball saved by Rivers Angels goalie, Tochukwu who palmed away.
The second half had Rivers Angels play much better with midfield maestro, Cecelia Nku play like a house on fire, stirring up problems for the Bayelsa Queens defence.
A well placed free kick by Rivers Angels player, Cecelia Nku was denied by the cross bar in the 60th minute.
After 2 minutes of added time, the final whistle was blown.
A well deserved win for the host, Bayelsa Queens FC…
