Cameroon female footballer dies after collapsing during training session

A female footballer, 26 year old Jeanine Christelle DJOMNANG, player of the elite women’s club, Femina Stars of Ebolowa has died of a heart attack following preliminary medical analysis.

The goalkeeper who died with gloves on as she warmed up to keep the goalpost against Louves MINPROFF died 48 hours after Cameroon International Claude Patrick Ekeng Ekeng collapsed and died during Romanian League Championship game.

Following reports, the player is said to have complained of pains during warm-up and died as she was rushed to the hospital.

Femima and Louves were getting set for the sixth day of play of the local women’championship.

The Cameroon Football Federation announced the sudden death of the goalkeeper on its website sending out a condolence message to the family while waiting for the official report on the incident.

The social media is awash with condolence messages from players; Gaelle Enganamouit, Manie Christine, Aboudi Onguene, Ngo Ndom Annette and many others.

A condolence book has been opened at the federation for the players, Patrick Claude Ekeng Ekeng and Jeanine Christelle Djomanang who died in the field of play and a special site for flowers arranged.
