BAYELSA QUEENS Vs. COD LADIES

Bayelsa Queens hosted Lagos based, City of David (COD) Ladies at Ughelli stadium on match day one as they enjoyed a high flying start to the new season. The Coach Rollanson Odeh led Queens had the opening goal in the 12th minute through Olaiya Barakat. COD ladies were good with ball possession but were awful upfront.

On the 25th minute, Bayelsa Queens forward, Osas Igbinovia, who single-handedly demoralized the COD defense with her electrifying pace and passes scored a sitter. Slowly, COD ladies got their groove on and had a firm grip on the tempo of the game. The visitors had a shot on target but Bayelsa Queens Alaba palmed the ball away for a corner kick.

The second half was drab as the rain caused the pitch to be water-logged and this hampered players’ movement and ball control. COD ladies finally got a goal at the 54th minute through Mama and Bayelsa Queens coach, Rollanson could not hide his disgust by the sideline as he yelled at his defenders letting in a cheap goal.

Bayelsa Queens had the first substitution of the game with Edeji coming in for Barakat in the 58th minute. Edeji’s quick feet and ball control upfront was a problem for COD ladies and she was rewarded in the 78th minute with a goal from close range shot.

It turned out a one-sided game in the second half as Bayelsa Queens outclassed the COD United ladies team

FT: Bayelsa Queens (Olaiya Barakat 12′, Osas Igbinovia 25′, Edeji 78′) 3 – 1 COD Ladies(Mama 54′)

OSUN BABES Vs. PELICAN STARS

A brace from midfielder Esther Anthony ensured Osun Babes got the better of Pelican Stars of Calabar at the Osogbo township stadium.

Pelican Stars, who are known to have lifted the NWPL trophy more than any other club in the country, were drab on the day despite enjoying a good percentage of ball possession and dominating the midfield.

Osun Babes’ Esther Anthony scored a well executed free kick in the 55th minute and followed it up with a second goal in the 73rd minute.

FT: Osun Babes(Esther Anthony 55′, 78′) 2 – 0 Pelican Stars

FC ROBO Vs. DELTA QUEENS
