The UEFA Women’s Champions League knockout stage began on Wednesday, October 3 with grounds including Stamford Bridge, Stade de Lyon and San Mamés staging matches in the round of 32.
Nigeria international Charity Adule and ex-Flamingoes star Chinwendu Ihezuo helped Kazakhstan champs BIIK Kazygurt to register a 3-1 home win over Verona at Futbol Ortalığı BïİK Main Field (Şımkent).
Adule opened scoring in the third minute. Both players put in a full shift, and Ihezuo was yellow carded in the 70th minute.
Former Super Falcons star Chichi Igbo bid farewell to Fortuna Hjørring in the summer to begin a singing career in Ireland, so wasn’t involved as the Danish side lost 2-1 to Athletic Club at San Mamés Barria (Bilbao).
