The South African Women’s National Team played a disappointing 0-0 goalless draw to Zimbabwe in Yaounde.
Banyana Banyana are in Group A with the likes of Cameroon (hosts), Zimbabwe and Egypt.
Was it wise to play two friendly matches against the two teams in the same group with less than a month before the tournament?
The SASOL sponsored team beat Egypt (3-1) on October 22 and won away at Zimbabwe (0-3) on November 10.
Mighty Warriors head coach Shadreck Mlauzi was smart in using fringe players against Banyana in the friendly match.
Interim head coach Desiree Ellis and her assistant Maude Khumalo played all their cards on the table and the Might Warriors Coach Mlauzi strategized on how well to stifle to their Southern African neighbours.
Mlauzi made it impossible for the South Africans to play their normal game but couldn’t see the ball in the back of the net.
South Africa will have to pick up the pieces in a sterner test against the host, Cameroon.
