Degla’s ‘nine lives’ clinch Egyptian league title

Wadi Degla’s women football team claimed the Egyptian league title for the ninth time in a row, after defeating El-Tayran (Aviation) 1-0 on Friday, April 7.

It remained a scoreless first half as El Tayran, last season’s runners-up, tried to force it to penalties.

In the 50th minute, Degla took a 1-0 lead courtesy of 33-year-old skipper, Amany Rashad.

Tayran missed a chance for the decisive equaliser late on but Degla stood firm to see out and record a precious 1-0 win against their bitter rivals.
