Francisca Ordega was a substitute as Washington Spirit played out a 1-1 draw at Orlando Pride in a National Women Soccer League (NWSL) match.

In an encounter that saw five-time FIFA Women’s Footballer of the Year, Brazil’s Marta making her debut for the Pride, both sides could not find the net in the first half.

After the restart of the game, Ordega came on for Alyssa Kleiner in the 56th minute and soon after, the Spirit were in front thanks to Line Sigvardsen-Jensen’s beautiful strike scored four minutes into her introduction.

Spirit came close to adding a second goal when Ordega cut deep into their hosts’ defence; only for her teammate Lindsay Agnew to shoot a weak effort after receiving a pass from the Nigerian.

Pride regrouped and scored an equaliser in the 86th minute of the game through Danisa Evans who slot home after been nicely assisted by a Nigeria international Chioma Ubogagu to save her team from suffering a second league defeat.

The injury-saddled Washington Spirit have managed to secure a point after two matches, following their surprise 1-0 loss to North Carolina Courage in their NWSL opener.
