Robo Queens attacker Gift Monday has set her target on emerging as the top scorer of the ongoing Nigeria Women’s league
She scored her second goal of the season in her team’s 3-2 hard fought victory over Ibom Angels in a topflight league encounter on Wednesday.
The former COD United Ladies player says she draws inspiration from Super Falcons and Dalian Quanjian forward Asisat Oshoala to help the Lagos-based club challenge for the league title and also winning the golden boot award.
Oshoala was also on ground as a special guest to witness her former side’s triumph in Lagos.
“I’m happy scoring one of the goals that nailed our opponents, Ibom Angels,” Gift told online portal Supersport.com.
“I strongly feel I’m living my dream, the dream of becoming the deadliest striker in Africa and Nigeria.
“My main target in the on-going Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) is to emerge the highest goal scorer at the end of the season.
“Already I have scored two goals in four matches for my side and I hope to keep increasing the goal tally in every match.
“Oshoala is one of the players that I look up to she makes me to work even harder.
“Upon sighting her at the stand I felt I should do more than I have done previously to get goal and win the match.
“I’m excited I did not disappoint her at the end of the football hostility.
“Ibom Angels are a good side but we were better on matchday and ably deserved to win.
“We hope to earn our first away points when we visit Heartland Queens in Owerri next Wednesday,” she concluded.
