Super Falcons abroad: Sweden

Four Nigeria internationals were involved in league matches, the weekend of April 23 2017, in one of Europe’s top women’s league, the Damallsvenskan of Sweden.

Falcons and former Houston Dash defender Osinachi Ohale, made her debut for Swedish side Vittsjo GIK, as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by former Gaelle Enganamouit team, Eskilstuna United.

Ohale, who recently joined the team from Nigeria Women Football League club Rivers Angels on a one-year deal, replaced Alva Persson in the 46th minute.

Her compatriot Ngozi Okobi lasted the entire duration for the hosts who took the lead after 17 minutes through Ebba Hed, but were forced to settle for a point when Mimmi Larsson scored a second half equaliser for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Rita Chikwelu and Ogonna Chukwudi‘s Kristianstad DFF suffered a second league defeat away at KIF Orebro, going down 1-0.

Chukwudi was in action for the entire encounter, as her team narrowly lost 1-0 to her former club thanks to a Emma Jansson’s 20th minute strike.

Midfield ace Chikwelu, was also involved in the clash but failed to inspire Kristianstad to their first win of the campaign
