Nigerian goalkeeper Christy Ohiaeriaku starred as Swedish side IFK Ostersund survived a late scare from AFC Lulea before claiming a 3-2 win in a division one league game on Saturday.
It was Ostersund’s opening match of the season, playing at home and Ohiaeriaku conceded her first goal when Mercy Monday found the net for the visiting team after 10 minutes.
The hosts, however, found their rhythm and drew level through Emily Eriksson and then took the lead before the break courtesy of Elin Mars’ strike.
The match restarted and Ostersund made it a 3-1 scoreline after Femke Golverdingen lashed home from a close range to put the game beyond their visitors.
Lulea reduced the deficit in the closing minutes of the encounter when Frida Oja tapped in from a goal-mouth scrabble. However, the home team held on for a crucial victory.
