Coach of Ibom Angels Ogbonda Whyte, cast a disappointed figure as his side succumbed to another loss on the road on matchday four of the Nigeria Women Premier league (NWPL).
On Wednesday April 19, the visiting side squandered an early lead as eventual Group A leaders FC Robo Queens of Lagos, overturned the deficit to emerge 3-2 winners at the Legacy pitch of the National Stadium.
Speaking to the media after the loss, the Rivers born gaffer rued the opportunity to pick up their first win of the campaign but faults certain elements for the result.
”The loss had nothing to do with (my girls) fitness level. They were having a problem with the artificial turf, bearing in mind we play on a grass field in Uyo.
”I couldn’t have done anything differently (for a result) because we worked so hard to pick up maximum points. At the end of the day, we ran out of luck.”
For the coach, all attention is solely on their home tie next Wednesday.
”We head back home to ensure we get all the three points against Abia Angels.
”I’ll also make some changes to the starting 11. There are definitely things I need to do differently from today.”
