”Ordega all day” – NWSL reacts to the Spirit, Sky Blue seven-goal thriller

By Janine Anthony. Additional report by Rachael Ugiagbe.

Francisca Ordega was involved in all Washington Spirit’s goals in the 4-3 win over Sky Blue FC in a National Women Soccer League (NWSL) match on Sunday, May 7.

Spirit’s other goal came from Havana Solaun who slotted in the third goal from an Ordega assist.

Kelly O’Hara got the Sky Blue’s first goal before Sarah Killion got her brace, including one from the penalty spot to set up a grandstand finish.

However, Spirit goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé made an outstanding save in the dying embers of added time to preserve the Spirit’s first win of the 2017 campaign.

Registering two starts this year in matchday four, the Super Falcons forward set off a sequence of events with her first goal of the season.

She even had time to bust out her best ”Hotline Bling” slash Antoine Griezmann move for her first goal.

At Full time, Ordega stole the show.

The NWSL had her as the face of the week’s action across the United States.

Celebrations continued as the Gboko-born ace reached a milestone.

Plus, her teammates couldn’t stop gushing…

The media and fans got into the action too.

Ordega took all the encomium in her stride

With the result, Washington Spirit sit with four points in seventh place while Sky Blue FC are one spot behind, with the same point tally in eighth. Killion is now the league’s joint top goalscorer with three goals and Ordega, joint second with two goals.
