Ghana WPL Wrap: Five star Mukarama Abdulai makes history

Striker Mukarama Abdulai made history over the weekend in the National Women’s League after she scored five goals to power Northern Ladies to a comfortable 6-3 win over Real Upper Ladies.

Abdulai who became the first female with the highest number of goals in a single game, grabbed her hat trick in the space of 17 minutes to make it a 4-0 affair before half time, after Linda Obeng had given the hosts the lead early on.

The Black Maiden scored two more goals in the second half in one of the side’s lopsided win, to take her tally to 8 goals after six matches in the ongoing Ghana National Women’s League.

Hannatu Joseph, Gladys Appiah and Afisatu Abubakari found the net for Upper Ladies in an encounter largely dominated by their opponents.

Elsewhere, three-time champions Hasaacas Ladies drew 1-1 at home with leaders Sea Lions, in a tie Asibi Amudi Fati and Alice Sarpong found the net for both teams.

Catherin Arthur and Ruth Appiah were on target as Lady Strikers defeated Soccer Intellectuals 2-1 at the Ndoum Stadium on Saturday.

At the Nungua Town Park, Samaria Ladies were forced to a 2-2 draw by Police Ladies, with Grace Animah and Juliet Abankwah scoring for Samaria; while Henrietta Annie and Mawusi Gbenyo scored for Police.

Goals from Gifty Acheampong and Francisca Asabea were enough to see Immigration Ladies beat Holy Royals 2-0 at the Carl Reindolf Park in Dansoman.

An own goal by Grace Acheampong and a strike from Joyce Antwiwaa Fenteng handed Ashtown Ladies a 2-1 win over Prisons Ladies; with Ruth Anima getting the consolation for the hosts, in the Northern zone.

In other results, debutants Kumasi Sports Academy continued with their fine form by recording a slim 1-0 defeat of Lepo Ladies, courtesy of a second half goal struck by Vivian Adjei Konadu.

Fabulous Ladies and table leaders Ampem Darkoa Ladies settled for a 2-2 draw at the Prempem Collage Park, with Agnes Aduako and Alice Kusi finding the net for Fabulous; whilst Priscilla Okyere and Grace Asantewaa netted for Ampem.
