KeWPL Round 6 : Vihiga Queens taste first defeat of the season

Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League entered round six over the weekend with interesting twists.

Zone B leaders Vihiga Queens suffered their first defeat of the season at their backyard, Mumias Sports Complex, no thanks to a lone goal from forward Gentrix Nabwire for Oserian Ladies.

Nyamira Starlets  vs Palos Ladies

In another Zone B fixture Palos Ladies picked their second win of the season following their resounding 3-0 win over hapless Nyamira Starlets at Sironga Stadium.

Emmalyne Adhiambo grabbed a brace before Prudence Odemba found the back of the net to make sure the visitors picked maximum points.

The match pitting Wadadia Mumias against Bulemia FC was not played.

Soccer Sisters vs Thika Queens

In Zone A, two-time defending champions Thika Queens continued their fine run this season following a 2-1 win over Soccer Sisters at Impala Grounds.

Catherine Wangechi and Mercy Achieng netted a goal each for the champions with Christine Njoki scoring a consolation for Soccer Sisters.

Makolanders vs Kayole Starlet

Makolanders extended their smooth run this season with a 2-0 win over Kayole Starlet at MYSA Komarock Grounds.

Dorcas Kizugu and Emy Lasu scored a goal apiece to make sure they bag maximum points.

Mathare United Women vs Spedag

Mathare United Women played to a 1-1 draw against Spedag in another fixture that was played at MYSA Komarock Grounds.

Esse Akida scored for visiting Spedag while Salome Akoth equalized for the home side.

Soccer Queens vs Mombasa Olympic

Soccer Queens were awarded a walkover when their opponents, Mombasa Olympic failed to honour the fixture that was scheduled for Karen Sports Club.
