The fifth edition of Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) got underway on Wednesday with 13 goals scored in the first two matches at Barbourfields Stadium.
The highest scoring match match of the day pitting Zambia and Malawi, produced nine goals with the former winning 6-3.
Zambia’s sensational forward Barbara Banda emerged the player of the match in the encounter following her exemplary performance.
The youngster Banda, netted four goals and one assist to propel her side past a brave Malawians.
Misozi Zulu and R .Nachula scored one each for the Shepolopolo while Malawian international Tabitha Chawinga grabbed a brace with team mate W.Mvula netting one goal.
Comment while receiving her man of the match performance Banda said she was glad to have had that performance and wished Malawi all the best in their remain matches.
In the opening Group C match, the Brave Gladiators of Namibia seemed too good as they picked a resounding 4-0 win over the Lady Zebras of Botswana.
Ann Shukusho grabbed a brace with Zenatha Coleman.
Action continues with the final game of the day as hosts Zimbabwe take on Madagascar. The currently lead 4-0, all goals scored by Rutendo Makore.
Group B matches will take place on September 14.
