Ugandan sensation nominated for league award

Uganda’s Crested Crane forward Hasifa Nassuna, is among three players who have nominated for the Airtel FUFA Awards Player of the Year.

This will be the second consecutive year Nassuna has been nominated for the award after she won the 2016 Most Valuable Player in the women’s category.

The striker has had a good season, leading reigning FUFA Elite Women League champions Kawempe Muslim, to their third consecutive league win last season.

Nassuna has since joined Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals this season.

Other nominees include Olila High School duo of Vanesa Karungi and Fazila Ikwaput, who are also in the race for the coveted individual award.

Voting has started with fans expected to vote by SMS and just like previous editions, this year’s award ceremony will be held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo on December 1, 2017.

For the third year running, telecommunications giants Airtel Uganda Limited, will be the main sponsor.

The awards are to reward excellence and efforts of players for the season.
