The Government of Edo State on Saturday November 18 (after the world cup qualifier), hosted the Nigerian Under-20 Women’s team (Falconets) and their Moroccan counterparts to a dinner at the government house.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Special Duties, Hon. Mika Amanokha thanked the Nigerian team for a good display in front of the home fans who turned up to witness the rain-soaked spectacle.
” I want to appreciate you for the hard fought victory today. You did it before and you have done it again.”
Hon. Amanokha also promised the team continuous support of the Edo State Government to ensure they qualify for the world cup.
“We look forward to the last game against South Africa that will see you through to France 2018 and we are here to support you.”
The icing on the cake for Falconets was when Hon. Amanokha invited the team captain Famuditi OluwaKemi to the podium and presented to her, the sum of Two million naira ($5,556) for the team.
Famuditi while reacting to the unexpected reward, thanked the Governor and people of Edo State for an unforgettable experience.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank the Executive Governor and good people of Edo State for their hospitality to us during our qualifying matches especially today.
“I want to thank the governor for all he has been doing for us and the token given to us.”
