KeWPL: Champions shine as Oserian and Queens jostle for top spot

Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League champions Thika Queens continued their splendid performance following a comfortable 4-0 win over hapless Soccer Sisters in a match that was played at Thika Sub-County Stadium.

Lucy Mukhwana scored a hat-trick with Linda Akoth making sure the champions maintained their unbeaten run.

The defeat added misery to Soccer Sisters as they sunk deeper to the relegation zone having managed five points from twelve matches.

Queens cemented their top position in Zone A on 29 points from eleven matches.

In another match, Makolanders beat Kayole Starlet 3-0 at MYSA Grounds, Komarock.

Lucy Njeri grabbed a brace in the eighth and 32nd minute before goalkeeper-cum striker Vihenda Kizugu adding a third in the 75th minute to ensure they bag maximum points.

The win ensured Makolanders extended their unbeaten run in the second leg having lost only two matches the entire season and registering three draws winning seven, the best performance of the club in recent seasons.

The weekend results leaves Makolanders in second place with 24 points from 12 matches.

Spedag revived their hopes of finishing in a respectable place by the end of the season with a comfortable 5-0 win over hapless Mathare United Women in a match played at Camp Toyoyo Grounds.

Wendy Achieng and Esse Akida scored a brace each with Cheris Avilia also on target to ensure their side went home with maximum points.

In Zone B, the interesting race for the top spot is real with top contenders winning big in the respective matches.

Naivasha-based Oserian Ladies demolished Bulemia 6-0 at Mumias Complex with Harambee Starlets defender Dorcas Shikobe scoring a hat-trick while Bertha Omita grabbed a brace with Linda Ojwang on target once.

Vihiga Queens routed Eldoret Falcons with new signing Terry Engesha scoring all the goals.

With the huge win, Oserian remain unbeaten this season and have 27 points the same points as Vihiga Queens who have a game in hand.
