KeWPL: Thika run riot as Spedag finish on a high

Two-time Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League Champions Thika Queens, convincingly routed Mombasa Olympic 7-1 in their Zone A fixture played at Thika Sub County Stadium over the weekend.

After a 2-1 shock defeat on their penultimate fixture last weekend, the champions finished on a high.

Fauzia Omar netted a hat-trick, Kenya under-20 forward Rachel Mwema bagged a brace while Catherine Wangechi and Lucy Mukhwana scored a goal apiece to ensure the hosts picked maximum points.

2016 SOYA Awards promising player and Harambee Starlets forward Mwanahalima Adam scored a consolation for the visitors.

The win cemented the champions lead at top of the table standing with 35 points.

In another season-ending fixture, Spedag put their league upsets aside as they overpowered hapless Soccer Sisters 5-2.

Soccer Sisters have officially been relegated to the second division after finishing bottom of the table standing with only five points.

The win made sure the Mombasa-based side upped their point tally to 20, one point ahead of Mombasa Olympic who were scheduled to play Kayole Starlet on November 27.

Makolanders who have had a good performance this season, crowned their season with a comfortable 3-0 win over Soccer Queens in a match that was played at Utalii Grounds.

Makolanders finished in second place with 30 points.
