The Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection team arrived in Ghana on Sunday to assess the various facilities that have been put in place for the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Alongside the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the tournament they began their inspection tour on Monday from the Cape Coast Sports Stadium which would be used as one of the venues for the tournament scheduled for 17 November – 1 December, 2018.
The inspection team also went to Robert Mensah and Nduom stadiums as well as Glowlamp Soccer Academy to assess their pitches which would be used as training facilities by the participating teams.
The inspection exercise continues today as the various hotels, hospitals and any other ancillary services that would be used by the teams and officials will also be assessed.
They will end their visit in Accra with the tour of the Accra Sports Stadium.
This will be the first time Ghana, a three-time AWCON finalist, will be hosting the continental showdown as the 2018 African Women’s Championships would also serve as qualifier to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the top three teams booking a World Cup spot.
