Vihiga Queens coach Alex Alumira has remained cautious ahead of their Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League fixture against Mathare United Women set for Saturday at Camp Toyoyo Grounds.
Vihiga, who are also the defending champions, have won three matches from their three matches played this season and they will be seeking their fourth straight win this weekend.
“It calls for avoidance of mistakes because I doubt if we are likely to witness the high number of goals witnessed in the past as opponents are tightening at the back. They are as well more cautious. We also face difficulties in every game because our opponents come with grit,” he said.
Thika Queens, Makolanders, Palos and Eldoret Falcons lock horns
Thika Queens are leading the table standing with 12 points from four matches will be under pressure as they host Makolanders at Thika Sub-County Stadium.
Last season, two-time defending champions, Thika Queens won the first leg 4-1 but lost 2-1 in the return leg.
Speaking to LadiesMarch, Thika Queens coach Chrisantus Otieno said it will not be an easy encounter considering that most of his squad is currently in camp with the national team that is preparing for the African Women Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“Let’s cross the bridge while we are there. It is our prayer that we don’t drop any point. For us to be able to keep the momentum of this league for its tough and challenging,” Otieno said.
In another match, Palos Ladies will play against Eldoret Falcons at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
