We last counted 14 walkovers after 8 matches in the Nigeria Women Premier League, but the number has now increased to 17 after three walkovers were recorded in the rescheduled match day 5 fixtures played across the country over the weekend.
However the highlight of the weekend was Edo Queens halting the unbeaten run of dominant Rivers Angels with a last minute penalty at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin. The away side, who have now dropped to second place in Group B, blamed bad officiating for their loss.
In the meantime, Media Officer, Jessica Amadi told LadiesMarch that they have filed an official complaint to the Nigeria Women Football League body that Edo Queens fielded an ineligible player. The player in question Ibinabo Georgewill has not been cleared from Rivers Angels.
Here is what was posted on their twitter handle while the match was on-going:

Sunday’s defeat was the second for last season’s double Champions in less than a week as they had failed to hold their own against Confluence Queens in the Federation Cup Quarter-final four days earlier.
Speaking of Kogi-based Confluence Queens, it sure was overwhelming to have beaten Rivers Angel, but they could not keep up the momentum in Uyo as they suffered a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Ibom Angels.
There was an away win after all with Nasarawa Amazons raiding COD United Ladies 3-1 in Lagos. The Amazons had already got all their three goals and three points in the bag before United managed a late consolation.
Below are the complete Week 5 Results and goal scorers
Delta Queens 3-0 Adamawa Queens (W/O)
Osun Babes 1-1 FC Robo (Waheed Suliat /Chindinma Okeke): FC Robo scored first through Chidinma Okeke before Waheed Suliat made sure Osun Babes did not suffer a home loss.
